Our PROFESSIONAL INTERNSHIP DEPARTMENT assigns internships to anyone who wishes to have a new, enriching WORK EXPERIENCE while applying his/her knowledge of the Spanish language. Applicants prepare themselves in Spanish courses offered by the Institute.

Type of Internships

The internships are related to a certain academic or professional field. The participant selects the type of internship indicating desired or preferred practical work fields.
Professional Internships are performed in governmental institutions or private businesses of recognized prestige such as museums, universities, travel agencies and institutions such as tourism, lawyer’s offices, medical field, restaurants and hotels, universities and private enterprises.

Requirements

A Spanish course of 4 weeks at the Institute is required in order to participate in the internship program.

Period of Internship

The participant determines the period of the internship. A minimum of 4 weeks is required.

Lodging during the Internship and Spanish Course

We offer lodging in Costa Rican host families during the internship and the Spanish course.

Payment

The possibility of compensation is determined solely by the employer. Normally internships are not paid. The participants must cover their own room and board. However, in some cases participants are compensated through allowances e.g. payment of food, fare, tours, etc.

Assignment Fee

The amount of $50 for the assignment, payment of the Spanish course and additional homestay during the period of internship is due the first day of classes at the IECR.

Operation of the application process for an internship

1.	You contact us.
2.	We send you the application form for Professional Internships and the Spanish course.
3.	You return us the filled in form (not binding) including all necessary documents.
4.	Pre-evaluation of the IECR
5.	The IECR informs you within five to seven days regarding the internship possibilities in your case.
6.	If you agree with the internship offers, you send us a confirmation of participation in the internship and Spanish program.
7.	IECR sends you the confirmation of enrollment.
